Refining slag is used to adsorb impurities. The composition of the refining slag is designed according to the impurity elements to be removed. Taking the removal of sulfur (S) element as an example, the refining slag usually contains components such as lime (CaO) and fluorite (CaF₂). Sulfur will react with lime to form calcium sulfide (CaS) and enter the slag phase, thus reducing the sulfur content in the molten steel. During the refining process, the amount of refining slag added and the reaction time should be controlled to ensure that the impurity elements can be fully adsorbed. For example, according to the initial sulfur content and the target sulfur content in the molten steel (in ABS Grade A steel, the sulfur content is usually required to be less than 0.04%), the amount of refining slag to be added is calculated. The amount of refining slag added and the reaction time are adjusted by observing the desulfurization reaction of the molten steel and regularly detecting the sulfur content.

Composition Detection and Real - Time Adjustment:
Advanced detection means such as spectral analysis are used to monitor the composition of the molten steel in real - time. The spectral analyzer can quickly and accurately detect the contents of various elements in the molten steel. During the refining process, the composition is detected at intervals (for example, every 10 - 15 minutes). If it is found that the element content deviates from the standard requirements, adjustment measures are taken in a timely manner. For example, if the carbon (C) element content is detected to be too high and exceeds the range of 0.21% - 0.29% required by ABS Grade A steel, an oxidant (such as iron ore) can be added to the molten steel to reduce the carbon content, or a special process such as vacuum decarburization can be adopted for adjustment.
